Based on Management method:
Network architecture:
- Network technology means network layout that tells us how computers are arranged and how tasks are allocated to computers.
- It is also two types depending on the network management method:
i. Client-server architecture
ii. peer to peer (P2P) architecture
1. Client-server architecture:
- A network architecture in which each computer on a network is either client or server.
- Each device of the client can send data requests to one or more connected servers.
- In term the server can accept these requests ,process them and return the requested information to the client. Ex: www, Email
Advantage:
- It has a centralized system, from which data can be easily backed up.
- Security is better in this network.
- The entire system is maintained by the server computer.
Disadvantage:
- In case of server Failure the entire network will be failed.
- Server maintenance cost is high.
- It requires a dedicated network administrator to manage all the resources.
2. Peer to peer architecture:
- Peer to peer is a type of network in which all the computers are directly linked together with equal capabilities and responsibilities for sharing data.
- There is no special server in it.
- Each computer manages its own Security.Ex: www, Email
Advantage:
- It is a cheaper network as it has no server.
- If one computer stops working it will have no effect on the other computer.
Disadvantage:
- It has a security issue as the device is managed itself.
- We can not backup the data because there is no server in this network.
