Cyber Crime 

Cyber crime is criminal activity that uses a computer cyber crimes are any crimes that involve a computer and a network.

Types of cyber crimes:

1) Hacking: 

This type of crime where a person's computer is broken into so that his personal or sensitive information can be accessed.

2)Theft: 

This crime occurs when a person violates copyrights and downloads, music, movies ,games and software.

3) Credit card fraud: You simply have to type your credit card number into a webpage for online transactions. If electronic transactions are not secure , the  credit card numbers can be stolen by the hackers who can misuse the card. The credit card owner suffered the loss.

Mode and manner of cyber crime: 

There are various mode or methods by which cyber crime can be committed:

1) E-mail Bombing: 

This kind of activity refers to sending a large number of mail victims, which may be an individual, a company or even mail server by ultimately resulting in crashing their mail server.

2) Salami attacks: 

In such crimes criminal changes in such a manner that such changes would go unnoticed .This kind of crime is normally prevalent in financial institutions or for the purpose of committing financial crimes.

3) Logic Bombs: 

These are event dependent program.This implies that this programs are created to do something only when a certain event occurs.

4) Web jacking: 

This term is derived from the term “Hijacking”. In these kinds of crimes hackers gain access and control over the websites. He even manipulates or changes the information of the website. This may be done for full filling political objectives.

Malware: 

Malware is a file or Program used to harm a computer user such as worms, Computer Viruses, Trojan horses and Spyware.

Types of malware :

1)Adware: 

Adware is a type of malware that displays unsolicited advertisements while a program is running on a computer. It can also collect information about users to target

them with customized ads.

2) Ransomware -

Ransomware is type of malware that involves an attacker locking the victim's computer system files through

Encryption, and demanding a payment to decrypt and unlock them .

6)Rogue security software

Phishing Attack-

“Phishing” refers to an attempt to steal sensitive information, typically in the form of usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, bank account information or other important data in order to utilize or sell the stolen information.

1) Viruses: Computer viruses are a harmful program. Computer virus is a small block of a coded instruction that obtains control of pc’s ,CPU and directs it to perform unusual and often distractive action.
