E- Governance

  • E-Governance or Electronic governance refers to the utilization of the internet and the www for providing government information and services to the citizen.
  • It posts all the services provided by the government of India such as postal services, railway ticket booking, and passport.
  • Now the government has taken many services of information technology platforms better known as governance.

Types of E-Governance

E-Hospitals (ORS) app-

  • Today in government hospitals, patients have to stand in long queues to get registration and obtain an outpatient department (OPD) slip before being available to concert  a doctor.
  • Online registration system is an online portal where citizens having aadhaar can enroll for appointment in government hospitals across  India.
  • Under digital India inactive national information centers (NIC) have developed an online registration system to online book appointments for various departments in government hospitals.
  • New patients will get appointments as well as a unique health identification (UHId) number. 
  • The patient portal available over the internet is https://www.ors.gov.in. 
  • New patients will get appointments as a unique health identification number. 

UMANG App:- 

  • UMANG Stands for Unified Mobile Application for New Age Governance. 
  • This app has been developed by the ministry of electronics and information technology. [MEITY] and national E-Governance division [NeGD] with the aim of driving mobile governance in India.
  • It supports 12 major Indian Languages in addition to English.
  • It support services such as aadhar, digilocker, PAN card, e-district, passport seva, tax payment, JPG Services, Services [Employee Provident Fund Office], E-pathshala, driving license, parivahan Seva, pradhan mantri kanga Sumangala yojana and many more.
