Types of Operating and User interface

Types of OS:
1) Single user single tasking OS:
The OS which allows only one user to work on a computer and can execute only a single task at a time is known as single user single tasking operating system.
Ex: MS DOS.
2) Single user multitasking OS:
An operating system which allows only one user to work on a computer and can execute more than one task at a time is known as single user multitasking os.
Ex: Windows 95, windows98.
3) Multi user multitasking OS:
This OS allows a number of users to work on a computer and can support the execution of more than one task at a time is known as multi user multitask OS.
Ex: Windows NT, Linux, Unix.
4) Batch OS:
Sequence of jobs in a program on a computer without manual interventions.
Ex: Payroll.
5)Real time OS:
Meant applications to fix the deadlines.
Ex: Robotics & Rocket launching.

User interface:
It talks about an interface that allows communication between user and computer.
There are two types of user interface:
1)CUI ( Character /command user interface):
A user interacting with a computer using character or command is called character or command user interface.
2) GUI (Graphical user interface):
User interact with computer using icon or graphics called graphical user interface.
