Insert Menu
The insert menu contains commands for inserting new elenints in your document. This includes images,media, charts,objjects from other applications, hyperlink,comments.
Page Break(Ctrl+Enter):-Inserts a mannual page break at the current position and places the cursor at the beginning of the next page.
More Breaks:-
- Insert Manual Row break(Shift +Enter)
- Insert Manual column break(Ctrl+Shift +Enter)
Image:Inserts an image into the current document.
Chart:Inserts a chart based data from a cell or table range or with default data. A chart is a tool that can be used for presenting the data graphically. Writer has several charts:
- Column
- Bar
- Pie
- Area
- Line
- XY(Scattered)
- Bubble
- Net
- Stock
- Column
Media:-The submenu presents various sources that an image,audio or video can be insert them to the document.
Object:Inserts an embedded object into your document, including Formulas, QR code and OLE objects.
Shape:This submenu contains common shapes like a line,circle, Triangle and square or a symbol shape like smiley face,flower that can be inserted into the docment.
Section:-Inserts a text section at the cursor positionin the document.
Text From File:- Through this option, we do the work of inserting Ms.word or text Document in our file.
Text Box (F2):-
- Draws a text box with horizontal text directon where you drag in the current document.
- Drag a text box to the size you want anywhere in the document, and type or paste your text.
- Rotate the text box to get rotated text.
- Text boxes helpful when you need to move text around in your document.
Comment:- Through this option, we do the work of inserting comment for selected text or parragraph.
Fontwork:-
- With fontwork you can create graphical text art objects to make your work more attractive.
- When you select a fontwork object, eight colored squares appear around the edge of object.
- You can drag these handles to resize the object by using these edges.
Caption:-Adds a numbered caption to selected image,table, chart, frame, or shape. You can also access this command by right-clicking the item that you want to add the caption to.
Hyperlink(ctrl+k):- Opens a dialog that enables you to create and edit hyperlinks.

*Editing and Removing Hyperlinks: Once you have inserted a hyperlink, you can right-click the hyperlink to edit,open, copy, or remove it.
Bookmark:-Inserts bookmark at the cursor position. You can then use the navigator to quickly jump to the marked location at later time.
Cross-reference:-This option works after bookmarking this option, we paste the bookmarked paragraph at out required place through this option.
Special Character:- Through this option, we do the work of inserting those words which we can not make from the keyboard.
Horizontal Line:-Inserts a horizontal line at the current position.
Footnote And Endnote:-Footnote and endnote are used for adding special notes in the document. Footnotes appear at the bottom of the page on which they are referenced.
Endnotes are collected at the end of a document.
Table of Contents:-Through this option, we can show the heading typed in the file Index that is, we do the work of creating a page index.
Page No:- By this option,the page number is given to all the pages created in the file.
Fields:-The submenu lists the most common field types that can be inserted into a document at the current cursor position.
Header and footer: Headers are portions of a document that appear at the top of every page and footers appers at the bottom of every page. They typically include a page number and sometimes document information such as the title.
Envelope:- Through this option, creates an envelope.
Signature Line:- On clicking this option a line appears at the place where the cursor is on the page.Which is known as signature Line.
